On the evening of 29th August 2008, a romantic unity of The Real Belgian Chocolate from Belcolade with Diamonds was staged at the Shangri-La Hotel Guangzhou, China. More than 300 guests attended the event, which included Mr.Vincent Van Quickenborne, the Belgian Minister of Entrepreneurship and Simplification; Mr. Felix Frank, the Consul General ofthe Consulate General of Belgium in Guangzhou; local Government officers, the delegate of the Belgian Diamond Club of China (BDCC), and Belcolade. 20 of the leading media representatives from all over China also joined the celebrations.

Before arriving in the grand banquet hall to enjoy the splendid evening, each guest had the chance to experience the unique glamour of top-grade chocolate and diamonds. A photographer at the reception to memorize this unforgettable moment; walking through a romantic tunnel to learn how a simple cocoa bean or stone could end up becoming the most desirable gift; taking a bite of the most renowned Belgian chocolates from Neuhaus and Guylian; walking around in the Hall of Origin to experience the unique taste of Belcolade origin chocolate, while having the visual enjoyment of exquisite diamond jewels presented by Chow Sang Sang, a leading international diamond brand.

The chocolate and diamonds fashion show formed the highlight of the gala dinner, where nine splendid diamond jewelry pieces were shown. But the most glamorous moment arrived when a model wearing accessories made with Belcolade chocolate appeared to the guests.  The chocolate pearl crown, pearl necklace, pearl bracelet and decoration on the dress, made the model look like a real princess who had been plucked out of a children's fairy tale.  The auction of the chocolate art piece and diamonds took the event to another exciting level.  All the proceeds from the auction was donated to theGuangzhouYouth New Hope Life Saving Fund, the love and passion from Belcolade and BDCC has brought true benefits to all.

The whole evening was full of Belgian elements: VIPs from Belgium; Belgian chocolate; Belgian diamonds; Belgian menu, which was selected by the Consul General himself; Belgian coffee; Belgian beers and snacks, which helped to build a real Belgian atmosphere. This helped all the guests, both local and overseas, easily recognize that Belcolade, The Real Belgian Chocolate, is just another product, but a culture, a lifestyle of indulgence, passion, love, luxury, romance, and much much more…

The gala dinner closed with interviews from the press who had been truly amazed by the event, and extensive compliments from delighted customers.  Although the party has now finished, this is only the starting point for us as we further embark on our Chinese chocolate project - further spreading our passion for chocolate to people all over China!

Before ending this article, the Chinese team would like to thank colleagues who have helped us make this event come true: Francis D'Hoore, Matt Crumpton, Stéphane Leroux and other colleagues from Belcolade.  Because of you, we were able to share our passion for chocolate with our Chinese customers and consumers.  A big thank-you from the Chinese team  and we look forward to being able to continue to share this passion with even more people! More plans are under development, and we count on your continuous support!
