R&D Investment
Research and development are important activities at Puratos. As customers from the bakery, patisserie and chocolate making trades all need specific technologies, our R&D effort is organised around our different business units. Broadly speaking, our R&D investment goes in at four levels.
Group Long Term Research Lab
Researchers at these laboratories are at the heart of new ingredient functionalities and new technologies. In this lab, they lay the foundation for our future products and services. They are also in charge of handling intellectual property matters such as patents.
Applied R&D
Each of our three business units manages its own research programs. These are essentially based on customer demand and technology monitoring and are carried out in collaboration with universities across the world. The knowledge gained is then centralised and made available to other Puratos researchers.
Centers of Competence
The Centers of Competence gather together experts in specific product types under one roof. Either the cultural origins of the product or the factory itself determines where a given center will be. For instance: bread is based in Germany, cake in the UK and the US,... Such localised R&D helps us better respond to customer expectations for technical support and tailor-made products.
Innovation Centers
Puratos' Innovation Centers are places of reflection and coming together. Through demonstrations given by professionals who often come from abroad to share their knowledge, our customers learn about new developments and technologies. Furthermore, they find the opportunity to exchange ideas, which often results in looking at their own activities from a new perspective.
